-
Come to your appointment with a clean face. This means NO MAKEUP OR MOISTURIZER.
-
Eat a small meal or a snack before your appointment.
-
Bruising and swelling will be worse for the first 24-48 hours after you receive your dermal filler injections. Refrain from exercising for the remainder of the day following your injection(s). You may want to refrain from going to any special events during this time.

-
Do not use dermal fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients or suffer from any neurological disorders.
Dermal Filler Post-Treatment Instructions
-
The majority of reactions to dermal fillers are redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness after the injections. These usually subside a few days after the treatment, but can last up to a week. If any of these symptoms persist longer than a week, or if you develop other symptoms, please contact our office.
-
Cold compresses may be used after the treatment to reduce swelling and decrease soreness. You may take Tylenol (if not contraindicated) every 4-6 hours after the treatment to help with any discomfort you may have.
-
Make-up may be applied a 24 hours after the treatment, if no complications are present, such as open wounds, bleeding or infection.
-
In the first 24 hours following treatment, limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps. Extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages may cause a temporary increase in redness, bruising or swelling at the injection sites. If there is persistent swelling or redness after the injections, you should limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps until these symptoms subside (for at least 5-7 days). If sun exposure is unavoidable, use a sun block with an SPF of 30 or greater, combined with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.
-
Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours to prevent moving the filler or increasing blood flow to the face.
-
Avoid taking aspirin (unless medically necessary) or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Fish oil, Gingko Biloba , St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E for 5 days after the treatment, as these may cause an increased risk of bleeding or bruising at the injection sites.
-
Avoid excessive touching or massaging the treated areas for about 6 hours after the injections. The treated areas can be washed with a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil® Cerave® or Dove® unscented.
-
Avoid dental procedure (including cleaning) 2 weeks post-filler.
-
Studies have shown that having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect. Consult your physician about recommendations for touch-up or follow-up treatments.
-
Remember your sunscreen daily.
-
Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by provider.
-
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
-
Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
-
Avoid consuming excess amounts of alcohol or salts to avoid excessive swelling.
-
If you have swelling, you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour.
-
Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort.
-
Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
-
Take Arnica (typically found in health food stores) to help the bruising and swelling. Begin taking at least two days prior to injections.
-
Wait two weeks before skin care or laser treatments.
Your satisfaction is very important to us! We would like you to return to the clinic in 2 weeks to see whether a touch-up is necessary. If follow up treatments are necessary, there will be additional charges at the regular rate. Additional costs of medical treatment would be the patient’s responsibility. Please call the office to notify us if you experience any additional side effects.

Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport Post-Treatment Instructions
-
Try to use the injected muscles for the first 1-2 hours after treatment: practice frowning, raising your eyebrows and squinting. This helps work Botox® into your muscles. Although this is thought to help, this will not impact your treatment negatively if you forget.
-
The results of your treatment can take up to 14 days to take full effect. Usually patients notice a change in 4-5 days. It takes time for the muscles to lose strength and the lines to fade following Botox® treatment. Please wait until 14 days have passed before assessing if you are pleased with the results.
-
Do not touch or rub injected site for 2-4 hours following treatment. Avoid exercise and sweating for the remainder of the day and no lying down or leaning forward for 2-4 hours after treatment.
-
Sit up. Do not lie down after a Botox treatment. This is to avoid the risk of pressure on the treated areas and to avoid the risk of having the area rubbed accidentally.
-
Avoid facials and saunas the day of treatment. Wait at least a day before getting back into that normal skincare routine. This allows the body time to adjust to the medical aesthetics treatment.
-
There can be a slight chance of bruising at the treated site, this is temporary. Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours of treatment.
-
Avoid any type of facial, microdermabrasion, or massage for 14 days after treatment.
-
Avoid Ibuprofen, Advil or Motrin, Tylenol is acceptable to take if experiencing discomfort (if not contraindicated)
-
Remember your sunscreen every day.
Your satisfaction is important to us! We would like you to return to the clinic in 2 weeks for a follow-up assessment appointment, especially after your first treatment. This will ensure we are able to see how your facial muscles react to your treatment. If you require additional Botox® to fine-tune/adjust your treatment results there will be additional charges at the regular rate.

PRP Rejuvenation Therapy
PRECARE INSTRUCTIONS: TO PREPARE FOR THE BLOOD DRAW ASSOCIATED WITH PRP THERAPY
-
PRP Therapy is very safe because cells from the patient’s own blood are used, which means there are no preservatives and no chance of the body rejecting the cells. The primary risks and discomforts are related to the blood draw where there is a slight pinch to insert the needle for collection and there is a potential for bruising at the site.
-
For optimal results and to decrease the chance of bruising at the draw site, please avoid all blood thinning medications and herbal supplements for 1 week prior to your appointment. Avoid taking Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) such as such as Ibuprofen, Motrin and Aleve. In addition, very high doses of some Vitamins and supplements can thin your blood and increase the chance of bruising. Please notify your provider if you are taking Coumadin, Plavix, or any other blood thinners for a medical condition.
Please eat within 2 hours of your scheduled appointment and drink plenty of water.
POST CARE FOR INJECTED PRP
-
What to Expect After Treatment: Immediately following the procedure, the most commonly reported temporary side effects are redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, tingling, numbness, lumpiness, and/or a feeling of pressure or fullness at the injection sites and/or in the treated area(s). Cold gel packs/ice may be gently applied immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.
-
To Avoid Bruising: Avoid alcohol consumption for a minimum of 6 hours and refrain from taking blood thinners such as Aspirin and NSAIDS for several days. Tylenol is recommended if needed for discomfort.
-
To Maximize Results and Prevent Complications: Avoid touching or scrubbing at the injection sites for 12 hours after treatment.
Your satisfaction is important to us! We would like you to return to the office in 4 weeks for a follow-up assessment appointment, especially after your first treatment. Because it is a natural treatment, we advise a minimum of 6 treatments for noticeable results.

A sunburn-like effect is normal for 1-3 days. You will look and feel sunburned after the treatment. Severity of redness will depend on how aggressive the treatment was performed. The skin may feel tight, dry, swollen, and sensitive to the touch. The treated area may appear darker and the darkened skin may flake off within 1 week. Avoid picking or exfoliating the area and allow old skin to flake off naturally.

After Care Products and Regimen: Wash the treated area gently twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Use tepid water only. Apply a soothing, healing moisturizer or oil, as often as needed for the first 3 days.
-
Sun exposure must be avoided for at least 24 hours after your treatment, preferably 1-2 weeks. If you know you will get incidental sun exposure, i.e., driving to and from work, walking from your car to the house, etc., we recommend physical avoidance of the sun in all treated areas, a protective hat and a full spectrum sun block of SPF 30 or higher.

Advil or Tylenol may be taken as necessary for discomfort. Ice packs may be used if desired to minimize swelling.
-
Sleep on your back with your head elevated slightly to reduce swelling.
-
For best results and efficacy, we recommend a series of 3-6 treatments administered at 2-4 week intervals. You may notice immediate as well as longer term improvements in your skin.
-
Do not apply makeup to treated areas for 24-48 hours
-
Only use the cleanser and serum that have been provided for the first 24-48 hours
